The Journey Begins |
| It began for Harley-Davidson® in 1903, but for us membership of the Harley family proper started in the January of their 100th Anniversary year, 2003. When we opened our doors as the first authorised Harley dealership in Sussex. It was with great optimism. As John Shaw, our Chairman said at the opening: "These are very exciting times. The chance to work with one of the biggest brands in the world doesn’t come along every day. The response we have had from local owners and others has been fantastic, convincing us that we can make it a huge success". John’s early optimism was born out during our first full trading year when the dealership was awarded the coveted ‘Bar & Shield’ award for excellence in sales and customer service. Our store features the full range of Harley-Davidson motorcycles, clothing, parts, accessories and branded merchandise. Our workshop also offers a factory trained service and repair facility. We have also had great success and enjoyment in introducing the Buell motorcycles to the Sussex area. Buell is Harley’s ‘performance’ sister brand. The range is small, but very distinctive and delivers enjoyment to the real enthusiast. Since opening we have had a lot of fun and enjoyment, in particular when establishing our local HOG (Harley Owners Group) Chapter, 1066 Chapter, which has become part also of the largest motorcycle owners group in the world. Long before our Harley adventure began our business (John Shaw Machinery) had been established at Holmes Hill. Where we have operated a successful commercial machinery dealership, since 1985, selling and servicing high value equipment to prestige sports venues throughout the south-east. |
